Headphone jack does not appear to work. when headphones are inserted into imac headphone jack, not only do i still hear the built-in speakers but no audio can be heard via the headphones. have tried several different headphones all with the same results.. Question: q: imac headphone jack not working last night i was listening to music and out of nowhere the external speakers i'm using went dead. i thought it was the speaker system because the music started playing from internal speakers in the computer.. I have read a lot of other topics about people with the same problem, and i tried sticking q tips and stuff in the jack and wiggling them around to make the light go off but it does not work. most of the people with the same problem as me had macbooks so i do not know if the headphone jack is the same on them as on an imac, so maybe that is why this trick does not work for me..
